After the Park
Huntington Central Park covers about 350 acres on both sides of Goldenwest Street, which makes it easy to lose half a day there. The food inside the park is breakfast and lunch at the two cafes and quick bites from the BBQ stand. When the loop around the lakes is done and you want a hot bowl of noodle soup instead, Fire Pho is 2.6 miles up the same street.
The park pulls people in for different reasons. Dog owners use the separate big-dog and small-dog areas off Edwards Street. Disc golfers play the 18-hole course that has been there since 1977. Families walk the 18 acres of trails and wetland at the Shipley Nature Center. Over on Talbert, the Central Library fills up so fast that students say it runs out of seats.
Ask around online and the same question keeps coming up: what's a good place to eat close to the library or the park? Our answer is a bowl of pho: hot, filling, and on the table in minutes. If you just want something warm after a game at the Sports Complex, Noods & Soup Only is $9. For the full story on the broth, read our guide to pho in Huntington Beach.
Getting Here
From the Central Library lot on Talbert Avenue, take Talbert to Goldenwest Street and head north for two miles. Turn right on Edinger. Fire Pho is less than half a mile down, on the corner of Edinger and Gothard. The whole trip is 2.6 miles, with no freeway and no Beach Boulevard traffic.
Coming from Central Park West or the dog park, the route is the same once you reach Goldenwest. Parking at Fire Pho is free and wraps around the building.
The park is great for picnics, and plenty of people would rather eat on the grass. Order online for pickup, grab it on Edinger, and you're back at the lakes in under 10 minutes.
Every bowl at Fire Pho starts from the same bone broth, simmered for 22 hours with marrow bones, roasted onion, and toasted whole spices. Pick the number of proteins, from the one-protein Spark at $13 to the five-protein Fire at $18. For a lighter stop after the park, Noods & Soup Only is $9: broth and noodles, nothing extra.
